Is College Worth It? Yes, Students Looking for Career Training

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Business writer Tim Grant spoke to Chris McGee on what CSF’s 17th Annual Youth Survey of 1,000 high schoolers said about rethinking what “college” actually means.

The story offered a nuanced view many high school students today — not abandoning higher education — but by broadening their definition of it to include certifications and career training. It pointed out that “legislation passed last year allows funds from 529 college savings plans to pay for those education paths, so that young people can fast-track into good paying jobs as health care technicians and aircraft mechanics, plumbers and HVAC specialists.”
